Honoring the Power of Being Female - Women's History Month

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we look back at all the fantastic achievements made by women who paved the road for women today.  We as women have taken on leadership roles, combated biases, achieved success in all areas of life whether in sports, in corporate roles, the arts, education, family, politics and more.

Being a strong woman comes in many facets.  We must all look upon our strengths and utilize them to show young girls the world of possibilities that exist.  Along the way, I encourage all women to support one another.  Too often in all realms of media, I see women attacking one another and bringing each other down for the false sense of believing that one gets lifted up by trampling on someone else.  The overwhelming popularity of “reality” television has made a mockery of women and we as individuals have a personal responsibility to be an example of compassion, empathy and unity.

I have the privilege of being surrounded by many strong and successful females.  They are mothers, teachers, entrepreneurs, many who are leading their careers in male dominated industries.  What makes these women so special is their ability to focus on new opportunities and using their own strengths to achieve their goals.  What is more important is their awareness of how their actions are being looked upon by future female leaders.  One does not have to be of “celebrity” status to be celebrated.  A stay-at-home mother taking care of her family and showing love and compassion in her day-to-day affairs is just as important as the female CEO running a company.

Rosa Parks, Maya Angelou, Anne Frank, Ameila Earhart, Malala Yousafzai are just a few of the thousands of women who have made a positive impact in the world.  A majority of these women, you will never hear their names, but they exist.  They exist in our everyday lives.  As a woman, I encourage you to take the time to recognize the single mother providing an education for her children, the new law student looking to make a change in the world, the photographer capturing beautiful moments of life that pass with a blink of an eye, the up and coming film maker producing works for both entertainment and education, the builder creating homes for future families, the teacher who encourages her students to never give up, and the list goes on.

I love being a woman and I am incredibly grateful for the women of the past who faced their fears and provided a foundation for women of my time and the future to build upon.  Each and every one of us is different and have our own unique abilities.  It is through these differences that we are able to achieve so many different goals.  What I lack in athletic ability, I gain in my words.  I use my words to encourage others to find their strengths and be a role model for women all around them and quite possibly all around the world.  I must stress that we also focus on finding ways to lift each other up as not one successful person has achieved their goals without experiencing failure.  When we have a strong network of community, together we stand and succeed together!

Please feel free to share of any female role models that have positively impacted your life in the comments section below.

Much love,

Inez xoxo
